We know it is confusing... Toy companies have a nasty habit of having so many choices it is difficult for family members to choose the right toy. Children are very particular about what they want. The worst experience for a child (and for the gift giver) is to open a gift and it is not the exact one they asked for. On to the details… The Hexbug Nano Habitat set is a smaller set consisting of 3 hex cells, 4 curved pieces, 3 straight pieces and 2 rare hexbug mutations. One of the rare mutations is black/red and the other is medium blue/red. On the other hand, the Hexbug Nano Bridge Battle Set consists of 4 hex cells, 6 curved bridges, 2 straight bridges, 1 battle bridge, and 16 elevators. Below are pictures of each set, assembled: |

Comparison: Note there are 3 major differences between the two sets. The first is the Bridge Battle Set has a large orange piece called the “battle bridge”.
Second, the Bridge Battle Set has 16 elevators that allow the set to be raised off the ground, if desired. This is particularly useful when building the set for battle because it can be incredibly fun for the battling bugs to knock each other off onto a lower portion of the set.
The third major difference is the Bridge Battle Set consists of one rare black battling bug and one rare white battling bug whereas the Habitat Set has a rare black/red bug and a rare blue/red bug.
These rare bugs cannot be purchased separately at this time as they are only available in the sets. Both sets can be assembled many different ways. Both sets come with batteries
Side note: The Hexbug Nano Starter Habitat set consists of 1 hex cell, two curved pieces and one rare blue/green hexbug mutation. By the way, all the pieces of the sets are compatible with each other and the Hexbug Add-on cells and bridges.
How to choose: The good news is Hexbug Nano is extremely popular and loved by children who have it. Parents love it too; many parents of toddlers have given feedback that their toddlers play with the set for hours at a time. If you are unsure that a child may already have the set, it is not a problem at all. Kids love having more pieces and more bugs because it makes the set more fun.
The smaller Habitat set is a lower price than the larger Bridge Battle set, so that is a factor in your decision. If you are purchasing for boys or any girl that has a competitive nature, you cannot go wrong with the larger Bridge Battle set. Children over 3 up to approximately age 7 really enjoy the Habitat Set. Older children like that the bugs can be registered online so they can play online games. Many children collect Hexbug Nanos. They love having the rare ones. The Bridge Battle rare bugs are one of the most interesting designs that will surely be coveted by Hexbug collectors. Note for individual Hexbugs, we allow you to select the color at the time of purchase.
