work. Then he (she?) comes out to dust, do the dishes and start the vacuum robot. He puts himself back in the base for a recharge before you get home and everything is cleaned-up. I guess you might find a broken dish or two, but that's the price you pay for automation, right? Maybe he could do the laundry too...
The car that drives itself, now that's interesting. Maybe I won't give up my own car, but I wouldn't mind it if there were taxi robots I could flag down as a new form of public transportation. I could punch my destination into the control panel, relax and enjoy the drive. A remote sensor identifies me so my credit card could be billed automatically. Here's the best part... I don't have to leave a tip!
Oops, forgot one thing. You still need someone to talk to. I know, there can be a video monitor connected to a person in some far away English speaking country with low labor rates. The person's job is to chat with you on your journey! Better yet, there's a selection of programs on the monitor. You can watch a movie, your favorite TV program or listen to music. The possibilities are endless!
Old habits die hard. If these products were available today, I don’t think people would use them immediately. But, it sure is fun to dream of the day.... |
